Outdoor Pond Air Pump Kit with Airline and Air Stones
If you keep goldfish or koi, oxygen is the thing you cannot see running low until the fish are gasping at the surface. This outdoor pond air pump kit pushes a steady stream of air down to air stones on the pond floor, where fine bubbles lift and mix the water from the bottom up. It comes in seven sizes, from 210 litres per hour (3.5 L/min) for a small patio or wildlife pond up to 3,600 litres per hour (60 L/min) for a well-stocked koi pond, and every size arrives with its own airline and air stones, so you can set it up the day it lands.
Why it works
Oxygen where the fish actually live
Surface plants and a waterfall add some oxygen, but the deeper water, where fish rest and waste breaks down, is often the poorest. Air stones placed low in the pond release bubbles that rise through the whole water column, carrying oxygen down and dragging stale bottom water up to the surface to exchange gases.
Built to sit outdoors
The pumps are IPX4 rated and weatherproof, designed to run outdoors 24 hours a day in all weathers, so they can sit close to the pond rather than in a shed. Wattage is low across the range, from 3.3 W on the smallest size to 35 W on the largest, which matters for something that runs around the clock.
Adjustable air on the larger sizes
From the 600 L/h size upwards, a chrome manifold with taps is supplied (2-way, 4-way or 8-way depending on size). You choose how many air stones to run and fine-tune the air to each one.
- Seven outputs from 3.5 to 60 litres of air per minute
- Airline and air stones included with every size
- IPX4 weatherproof casing for continuous outdoor running
- Low-noise operation as published for this line
Where it's used
Garden goldfish ponds, koi ponds, wildlife ponds with fish, raised patio ponds, ponds with no waterfall or fountain, and newly built ponds that are still maturing their filter. It is equally useful in summer, when warm water holds less oxygen, and in winter, when a gentle column of bubbles keeps a hole open in the ice so harmful gases can escape.

Supply: 230V/50Hz (210 and 450 sizes), 220-240V/50Hz (600 to 3,600 sizes). Weatherproof rating: IPX4. Non-return valve: not published for this line. Noise level in decibels: not published for this line.
Choosing the right size
A practical rule of thumb is about 1 L/min of air for every 100-150 litres of water in a goldfish pond, and for every 50-100 litres in a koi pond, because koi are larger, more heavily stocked and more demanding of oxygen. Size up if your pond is deep, crowded or in full sun.
| Air output | Goldfish pond (guide) | Koi pond (guide) |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 L/min | 350-525 litres | 175-350 litres |
| 7.5 L/min | 750-1,125 litres | 375-750 litres |
| 10 L/min | 1,000-1,500 litres | 500-1,000 litres |
| 20 L/min | 2,000-3,000 litres | 1,000-2,000 litres |
| 30 L/min | 3,000-4,500 litres | 1,500-3,000 litres |
| 40 L/min | 4,000-6,000 litres | 2,000-4,000 litres |
| 60 L/min | 6,000-9,000 litres | 3,000-6,000 litres |
Not sure of your volume? Multiply length x width x average depth in metres, then x 1,000 for litres. Also check maximum depth: the four smaller sizes are rated to 1.5m, the three larger to 2.5m.
Installation, use and care
Keep the pump dry and sited above the pond's water level, so water cannot siphon back down the airline into it if the power goes off; if it has to sit lower, fit a non-return valve in each line. Stand it on a paving slab or shelf, run the airline to the air stones and weight them on the pond floor. Run it through summer heat and keep it running in winter to hold a hole in the ice. Check the air stones each season and clean or replace them when the bubbles coarsen.
Frequently asked questions
Can the pump go in the water?
No. Only the airline and air stones go in the pond. The pump sits outside on dry ground; it is weatherproof to IPX4 for outdoor use, not submersible.
Should I run it all year?
Yes, ideally. In summer warm water holds less oxygen, and in winter the bubbles keep a hole in the ice so gases can escape. Many keepers simply leave it running 24/7.
Do I need a non-return valve?
If the pump sits above water level, usually not. If it must sit at or below water level, fit a non-return valve in each airline. One is not listed in the box contents for this line.
Can I add more air stones later?
The 600 L/h size and above come with a manifold with taps, so you can run fewer stones and turn air up or down. The number of outlets is fixed per size, as shown in the table.
